We Choose President Bush
Our Endorsement for President

President George W. Bush |
Without reservation iTallulah endorses President Bush for four more years.
Samuel Adams once said, Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote - that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. It is in the context of this solemn trust, and the gravity of our accountability, that we make our choices for endorsement this election year. Foremost, among the endorsements we make this week is one for the highest elected office in our land, that of our national Commander in Chief, our President - the one to whom we will entrust leading our country, our troops and our national policies that will impact our families and our children for the next four years and a generation to come.
In this consideration, we confidently affirm our strongest endorsement for President George W. Bush as the only candidate in whom we could entrust the crucial duty of truly leading our blessed country in these tumultuous days of cultural and security challenges.
In making any political endorsement, we strive to follow the admonitions of the founders of our American republic as to how we should choose our leaders. John Quincy Adams made clear, Always vote for principle. Noah Webster wrote, In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide - look to his character. Webster went on to explain further, when a citizen gives his suffrage (vote) to a man of known immorality he abuses his trust; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor, he betrays the interest of his country.
Noah Webster was not only one of the framers of our federal Constitution, but also one of America's foremost educators who wrote often of the responsibility of the people in choosing their leaders. He summed up the criteria we should use when he wrote, When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God. The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; if the citizens neglect this duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted. Many other founding fathers regularly referred back to these fundamental principles that actually reflect those first given to Moses in Exodus 18:21; in short that our leaders should fear God and honor the principles of God.
President Bush has clearly demonstrated his respect for God and God's principles. He has been a leader that has relied on his faith, not as some private keepsake or fire insurance policy to be kept away in a personal drawer only pulled out on Sundays or on the stump along the campaign trail, but as the foundation of critical decisions that are based upon unchanging principles and not upon the blowing in the winds politics of the latest polls of public opinion or party.
When he stood against the dark tide of the culture of death that is casting its long shadow upon the sweet land of Liberty through policy decisions against extending stem cell research using unborn children (beyond those that had already been destroyed prior to his administration); against the grotesque barbaric partial birth abortion procedure; and against the assisted suicide promoters - he did so based upon such principles to restore and protect a culture of life in our country; a culture that considers all persons created in the image of God to be valuable and deserving of life protection. He also made these decisions in an intellectually informed manner, seeking out the social, medical and scientific implications of the decisions. He led with principle and courage.
He has stood on principle against the cultural chaos unleashed by leftist judicial activists that have breached their constitutional bounds to become elitist oligarchs legislating from the bench appointing conservative constitutionalists to the bench, although stonewalled by the same party that promoted and defended slavery against the freedom fought for by Lincoln.
When he encouraged the Defense of Marriage Act, he defended the very definition of marriage wrought by the creator against the same judicial onslaught and party - that by all accounts has lost all moral moorings.
He led our country through the tumultuous days and months following the horrible USS Greeneville submarine accident on that fateful day February 9, 2001, which killed 9 Japanese students and teachers on a fishing school trawler off the coast of Hawaii (just weeks after he took the oath of office) - he did so upon such principles - allowing justice to work for the Japanese families while honoring the service of Commander Waddle - the Commander of the USS Greeneville.
He stood up to China after they had forcibly brought down our P3 aircraft, and did not back down, but worked diplomatically to bring home our airmen and equipment without negating our position, while helping China not to lose face before the world as they acquiesced. He did so based upon such principles.
Then, if no events of those first months had been enough to test and demonstrate his leadership - the fateful morning of September 11, 2001 would. He led with unwavering courage based upon the same absolute principles.
When he led us into Iraq based upon all the intelligence known to him and to those in congress, with full knowledge of the character and atrocities of the enemy, with full knowledge of over 12 years of patience and diplomatic edicts, with full knowledge of Iraq's involvement in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, with full knowledge of the terrorists harbored there - he did so based upon the principles of security of our people and freedom for Iraq.
Assailed on every side daily by Monday morning quarterbacks - judging in hindsight - while regularly and conveniently forgetting the facts, or even their own judgments at that time - he stuck to the principles that he began with. In spite of the persistent questioning of his position by such self righteous media critics as CBS & particularly CNN, who had spiked almost twelve years of first hand knowledge of Saddam's atrocities against his own people and bribery of UN, Russian and French officials, he stood his ground to finish the work of freedom that was begun in Afghanistan and Iraq.
President Bush has persevered and has consistently led our country. He now seeks to serve our country for another 4 years - though none might wish such a burden upon one - he carries the burden as if it has been cast upon another much stronger than he has. President Bush has proven his principles, has proven his leadership. Why should we entrust the responsibility for the leadership and policies impacting our families, our children and the next generation to one who by rhetoric and record keeps his faith private and principles plasticized when we have one who, though not perfect, has a backbone of principled steel based on faith's foundation? We therefore choose and heartily endorse to you, our neighbors - President George W. Bush.
